2 Space Suits - It is a complex system of garments, equipment and environmental systems designed to keep a person alive and comfortable in the harsh environment of outer space.

3 First space suit - Soviet Union SK-1 series - Full pressured space suit - Life support and survival features - Protects against any environmental conditions when taking off or landing

4 Fuctions a space suit must have - Stable pressure - Be able to move easily, mobility - Oxygen - Temperature regulation - Protect against ultraviolet radiation - Communication system

5 Modern day suits - EMU (Extravehicular Mobility Unit) - It has 13 layers of material: inner cooling (2), pressure garment (2), thermal micrometeoroid garment (8) and outer cover (1) - Weighs about 280 lbs on Earth - And costs about $12 million each
