How to embed a YouTube clip into a PowerPoint 2007 presentation By Anastasia Tzortzatos

Step 1: Open PowerPoint By using the shortcut on your desktop open the PowerPoint application – Double click the icon

Step 2: Set up PowerPoint PowerPoint does not show the “Developer” tab by default. It must be added in order to embed a video

Step 3: get “Developer” tab Right click on the toolbar at the top of the PowerPoint screen Left click the “Customize Quick Access Toolbar..”

Select “Popular”

Check off the show Developer tab

Left click the ok button on the bottom of the screen

Step 4: Find video Go to YouTubeYouTube – Find the desired clip – Copy the url at the top of the screen

Step 5: Paste link into a text document Open any text document to paste the link (word and notepad can be used for this) – Paste the url into the document

Step 6: Edit the link Remove the word “watch?”

Remove the “=“ and replace it with a “/”

Back to PowerPoint In a new presentation or in a presentation that already exists find the slide where you would like the video

Step 7: Create an area for the video Left-click the developer tab – Left click the “more controls” icon Select “Shockwave Flash Objects” and left-click “ok”

Left-click the desired area and drag your mouse to create the desired size for the video The area can be resized later if needed

Step 8: Copy the video link Go back into your notebook and copy the link you had edited

Step 9: Embed the video Right click on the square and select “properties” to view the visual basic menu

When the Visual Basic menu pops up under “Movie” paste the link for the video

Step 10: Play Slideshow Close the menu and play the slideshow to reveal the embedded video
