Why create research questions? Well written questions help to focus your research! Using research questions will help to avoid aimless searching and wasted time.

What makes a good research question? Strong research questions: o Are open-ended (they cannot be answered with a simple yes or no) o Contain the words who, what, where, when, why, and how o Can be easily researched

What do weak research questions look like? Are dogs used for search and rescue operations? Do dogs make good search and rescue animals? Is the training for search and rescue dogs difficult?

What do strong research questions look like? What kinds of dogs are best at search and rescue? What characteristics are essential for a search and rescue dog? What training and certificating does a search and rescue dog have?

What research questions will you write? Now that you have narrowed your topic, write three strong research questions
