Verb: Presented Presented who or what? A trophy=DO Presented a trophy to or for whom? The winner IO: winner –You don’t always have an indirect object You can’t have an IO without a DO, but you can have a DO without an IO

Subject Complements Predicate Nominative and Predicate Adjectives follow LINKING VERBS PA’s are adjectives that –describe or modify subject –The snow was heavy. PN’s are nouns or pronouns that –Identify, rename, or define subject The trip became a nightmare
