2 Winter Begins in November and lasts to March In the coldest time temperature can decrease even to -40 degrees Usually there is 1 to 2 metres snow in the nature In the winter many tourists come to Lapland to see Father Christmas, reindeers, Aurora borealis and the beautiful nature of Lapland There are many activities in winter: skiing, snowboarding, downhill-skiing, skating

4 Spring Snow begins to melt, and it’s pretty wet in the streets Usually begins in April and is followed by summer Temperature is between -5 and +10 degrees Sun rises higher and higher every morning Nature is pretty ugly, when there are no leaves in the trees People are still very happy, when the long darkness is over

6 Summer Summerholiday begins in the 1st of June and lasts to August In Sodankylä we have a very big and international Midnight Sun Film Festival Summer in Lapland is very bright, and you can’t even differ night from a day Temperatures range between +5 and +30 degrees The nature is very green and beautiful with birches, spruces and pines

8 Autumn After warm and bright summer autumn begins and brings the darkness which lasts to winter and next spring Leaves starts to fall, and the first freezing weathers punish the ground But autumn is also beautiful, when ”ruska” paints the trees with brown, yellow and red colours The first birds start their trip to southern countries Rivers and lakes freeze, and the first snow falls
