COPPERHEAD SNAKE BY : SEIGHIN CHIPPENDALE

COPPERHEAD DESCRIPTION The copperhead snake has a very distinct look They have a dark colored band across their body with a greenish yellowish tail They can reach up to 4 feet (48 inches) It eats small rodents like rats and small birds and other snakes.

HOW THE COPPERHEAD PROTECTS ITSELF The copper head has many ways to defend itself. It has venom but not a lot Its bites as a weapon they are not fatal They camouflage themself with its surroundings It vibrates its tail to pretend it is a rattle snake

THE COPPERHEAD HABITAT The habitat of a copperhead snake is very rough terrain They live in the rocky mountain sides and forests and hill sides

WHAT THE BABIES LOOK LIKE The babies have a very individual look. The babies are 7-9 inches long they are born in August through September they have a yellowish tail and they eat small lizards and frogs and the bite is lighter than an adult

HOW THE COPPERHEAD EATS ITS FOOD Do you know that the copperhead has many ways to eat its food. It has a special jaw that dislocates so it can eat its prey and it injects its venom in to its prey and then lets it die and then eats it. Dislocates its jaw and digs his sharp teeth in to the animal

HOW THE COPPERHEAD GOT ITS NAME Do you know how the copperhead snake got its name They are called the copperhead because Its head is colored like copper and the body of the snake is a different color.
