Expresses the view point that war causes pain to not just those involved in it but everyone associated with those people.

During war pretests, people played this song and it gave them a sense of pride for being against the war and wanting the troops to be pulled out of Vietnam (or somewhere else in the future). Edwin Starr believes that all wars are “civil wars” because they are fought amongst the same being……men.
