We have the power to choose. Deut. 30:19; Matt. 11:28-30; Rev. 22:17 God wants all to choose salvation. 2 Peter 3:9; 1 Tim. 2:3-6 Yet, the Bible does teach a type of predestination. Eph. 1:3-6 God planned for our adoption as sons to His glory.

God’s sons are with Him, perfectly protected and provided for. Rev. 21:1-7; 22:1-3 Sin had previously disrupted this relationship. Gen. 3:16-19, 22-24 A glimmer of hope. Gen. 3:14, 15

God’s longsuffering was at an end. Gen. 6:5-7 Noah found grace and kept the plan alive. Gen. 6:8

Three-fold promise. Gen. 12:1-3 ◦ A great nation. ◦ The land of Canaan. ◦ Through his Seed all nations would be blessed.

Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, 12 sons. Grew to a large number in Egypt. Exodus 1:7 Moses and the 10 plagues. Passover.

At Sinai the Lord made a covenant with Israel. Ex. 24:3, 4, 7, 8 Both spiritual and “political.” Animal sacrifices emphasized seriousness of sin. ◦ Day of Atonement. Lev. 16:15-17, 20-22 The tabernacle. Ex. 29:44-46 The true prophet would come. Deut. 18:15

The second part of the promise was fulfilled. During the judges men ignored God’s standard. Judges 21:25

Saul, David, Solomon Promised the perfect King who would guide and protect. 2 Sam. 7:12-16; Ezek. 37:24- 28 Sin led to the Divided Kingdom.

How can we have this adoption? Listen to the King and Prophet. Acts 3:23; Heb. 5:8, 9 Do what was done in Acts 2. 2:38; Gal. 3:26- 29. Continue to live for Jesus.

Throughout human history God was thinking of you and planning for you to be with Him eternally. What are you going to do with God’s plan for you?
