2  We have the power to choose. Deut. 30:19; Matt. 11:28-30; Rev. 22:17  God wants all to choose salvation. 2 Peter 3:9; 1 Tim. 2:3-6  Yet, the Bible does teach a type of predestination. Eph. 1:3-6  God planned for our adoption as sons to His glory.

3  God’s sons are with Him, perfectly protected and provided for. Rev. 21:1-7; 22:1-3  Sin had previously disrupted this relationship. Gen. 3:16-19, 22-24  A glimmer of hope. Gen. 3:14, 15

4  God’s longsuffering was at an end. Gen. 6:5-7  Noah found grace and kept the plan alive. Gen. 6:8

5  Three-fold promise. Gen. 12:1-3 ◦ A great nation. ◦ The land of Canaan. ◦ Through his Seed all nations would be blessed.

6  Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, 12 sons.  Grew to a large number in Egypt. Exodus 1:7  Moses and the 10 plagues.  Passover.

7  At Sinai the Lord made a covenant with Israel. Ex. 24:3, 4, 7, 8  Both spiritual and “political.”  Animal sacrifices emphasized seriousness of sin. ◦ Day of Atonement. Lev. 16:15-17, 20-22  The tabernacle. Ex. 29:44-46  The true prophet would come. Deut. 18:15

8  The second part of the promise was fulfilled.  During the judges men ignored God’s standard. Judges 21:25

9  Saul, David, Solomon  Promised the perfect King who would guide and protect. 2 Sam. 7:12-16; Ezek. 37:24- 28  Sin led to the Divided Kingdom.

10  Isaiah ◦ The Lord’s house for all nations. 2:2-4 ◦ Peace and safety. 11:6-10 ◦ Would deal with sin. 53:4-6, 10-12  Jeremiah ◦ A new covenant. 31:31-34  Daniel: the days of the fourth kingdom.  Joel 2: the coming of the Holy Spirit.

11  God with man. Matt. 1:20-25; John 1:1-3, 14  Prophecies were fulfilled. ◦ Seed of Abraham. Gal. 3:16 ◦ Great prophet; blood of the new covenant. Matt. 26:28 ◦ Birth, entry into Jerusalem, etc.  Fulfilled Isa. 53 at the cross.  The grave couldn’t hold Him. Acts 2:25-32

12  Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15, 16  It all began to come together in Acts 2. ◦ Holy Spirit came. 2:1-4 ◦ Jesus was preached and salvation proclaimed. 2:36-41 ◦ The saved worked and worshiped together. 2:42  They were the people God had planned. Eph. 1:3-7  On their way to the reward of Rev. 21, 22.

13  How can we have this adoption?  Listen to the King and Prophet. Acts 3:23; Heb. 5:8, 9  Do what was done in Acts 2. 2:38; Gal. 3:26- 29.  Continue to live for Jesus.

14  Throughout human history God was thinking of you and planning for you to be with Him eternally.  What are you going to do with God’s plan for you?
