Science Test “think like a scientist”Tests your ability to “think like a scientist” Information and facts you need are in the passage! You don’t have to recall specific FACTS from specific COURSES!!!!!
4
Measures how well you… AnalyzeinterpretAnalyze and interpret data CompareCompare experimental designs and methods CompareCompare assumptions underlying experiments MakeMake generalizations Identify evaluateIdentify and evaluate conflicting points of view
5
3 KINDS OF QUESTIONS 1)Data Representation 2)Research Summaries 3)Conflicting Viewpoints
6
DATA REPRESENTATION Graphstables Graphs and tables similar to those in scientific journals and texts Measures how well you…… – Read graphs – Interpret scatter plots – Interpret information in tables
7
RESEARCH SUMMARIES One or more related experiments are described Measures how well you…. – Understand experimental design – Interpret experimental results
8
Conflicting Viewpoints Presents several hypotheses that are inconsistent with one another Measures how well you…. – Understand, analyze, and compare alternative hypotheses or viewpoints

SCIENCE PASSAGES
13
ARE YOU on track for college-level work or success after high school? BENCHMARK Scores
14
PLAN Science Test: 21 or higher BENCHMARK Scores
15
Meet or exceed PLAN benchmarks 50% chance of meeting or exceeding ACT benchmark scores BENCHMARK Scores
16
What if you don’t meet benchmark? You may be placed in a remedial college course. BENCHMARK Scores THAT MEANS I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CLASS BUT IT DOESN’T COUNT TOWARD GRADUATION. BUMMER…………….

BENCHMARK Scores What if you don’t meet benchmark? Students who do not meet the PLAN Benchmarks in English, reading, or mathematics “shall have interventions strategies for accelerated learning incorporated into his or her learning plan.” ~KRS 158.6459 This will help me get back on track and it will be recorded in my ILP.
