Back ground Information The Quebec act was a law passed by Britian in 1774 to calm tensions in Quebec It was a British colony, but there were a lot of French and Roman Catholic people living there It gave political rights and religious rights to Catholic French Canadians

What Happened Limited the rights of Catholics Guaranteed use of Civil law in Quebec It expanded to Ontario, and the mid western United States Retained criminal laws

How the Colonists Felt Angered colonists in the city and the colonies Merchants felt persecuted Some political leaders thought it was an assault to their freedoms Colonists used to prove their right to start the revolutionary war
