Geometrical Pre-Processor
GENERAL APPROACH Geometrical Pre-Processor Definition of axis reflecting the position of a structure in 3D Definition of cross-sections Definition of segments by distributing cross-sections along the axis Assignment of tables and formulas to vary dimensions over the length of the structure Preparation of Reference points for design checks Preparation of shapes for the geometry of tendons

1.Axis: 2.Cross Section GP DEFINITIONS
Combination of plan view & elevation view = 3D position of axis. Elevation: straight lines, arcs & parabolas. Plan View: straight lines, arcs & spirals. Distance measured along axis = station. Axis Bridge 2.Cross Section The intersection of the Construction lines are used to compose plane elements, which define the Finite Element CS. Construction lines are basis of CS. FE element mesh. Variables: e.g. height variation. Parts: e.g. composite, grillage… 1 2 Part numbers Segment points

3.Formulas & Tables 4.Segment Axis CS Tables Segment GP DEFINITIONS
Adapt the Cross Section variables along the axis. 4.Segment Part of the system prepared to be exported to RM: Components are identified and logically grouped together. Consists of segment points. Assignment of CS to seg. Points. Definition of beam elements & nodes. Master segment: related to axis. Slave segment: depending on geometry & position in other segments. Slave reference line Segment points Bridge girders. Piers. Cross Beams. Cables. Types: Axis CS Tables Segment

Axis – Elevation AXIS DEFINITON
Definition in Elevation using straight lines, arcs and parabolas

Axis – 3D y z x AXIS DEFINITON
Bridge structure x z y Combination of plan view & elevation view = 3D position of axis All distances are measured along the axis defined in plan view

Axis CS Segment SEGMENTS Plan View Axis
A Segment is a part of a structure prepared for the export to RM2006 Components are identified and logically grouped together Discretisation of the structure along the defined axis → “Segment points” Plan View Axis

General Layout 3D DTM: bridge in 3D
3D Model : 3d model including the structural nodes used. 3D Tendon: tendon layout Alignment: 2D alignment data
16
Axes Horizontal Alignment: 2D alignment with table of geometric elements. Vertical Alignment: 2D alignment and profile tables. Elevation view: 2D profile and table of geometric elements.
17
Deck Typical Sections: structural segments in which the bridge was divided. Segment Sections: typical cross sections of the segments used. Segments in tabular format.
18
Construction Structural Model: structural model used, nodes, segments, abutments and piers.

CADD Standards Based on a “seed” dgn file” Template.dgn
In the future, we will specify label symbology of the structural elements, fonts and text size for labeling, scales to use.
