“Poetry, with its flexible and variable uses of language, its connections to personal feelings, and the necessary language craft and skills, is an instrument for capturing the social, cultural, and personal nature of students' lives. When students are encouraged to interact with critical ideas and reflect on their knowledge and experiences through poetry, they build their literacy and communicative understandings in meaningful ways (Wiseman, 2007).”
