2
Works like a paint brush No colored applied Selects what you “paint”
3
Click and drag with mouse Photoshop senses the colors that you “paint” PS then automatically expands the selection to include all similar colors nearby Works best when colors are noticeably different
4
To make accurate selections, change the brush size while you work You can change by just tapping the bracket keys [ or ] Or you can use the options bar to make more customizable selections
5
Photoshop will automatically switch to the “add to” selections option because it assumes you will “add to” your first selection
6
When would the quick select tool be most useful?
7
Turn to page 88 in your book, label the chart in your notes marked “Quick Select” tool with The name of the option AND a description of what it does
8
Used to select by a single pixel When you select a pixel, PS looks for others pixels of similar color Allows you to select from more complicated areas of similarly colored pixels
9
Works best with contrasting colors BUT you can use the tolerance option to adjust Tolerance option controls how “tolerant” the magic wand will be on different shades of color The lower the number, the less shades and tints of that pixel are selected
10
Pixels that touch are called “contiguous” pixels If you check contiguous on options bar, ONLY pixels that are touching will be selected If you uncheck contiguous, similar colors throughout the entire image are selected
11
You would uncheck contiguous to try to get between the branches for this image You would check contiguous to only select the white around the dog
12
“Sample all layers” option Checked = selects pixels of similar color on all visible layers Unchecked = only selects from current layer
