RESEARCH and DEVELOPMENT for CBM (at LHE JINR) Yu.V. Zanevsky Laboratory of High Energies JINR, Dubna - NEW INFRASTRUCTURE - FAST GAS DETECTORS - DIPOLE SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET JINR participation on the experimental program at GSI future facility 20-21 Nov., 2003

INFRASTRUCTURE in LHE JINR We have a present-day infrastructure for the R&D and construction of gas detectors: - winding machines - clean rooms - measurement devices - Front End Electronics - special tables e.t.c. Our previous infrastructure was successfully used for the HADES project. A new Detector Lab. wiil be employed firstly for the TRD / ALICE. http://lhedl.jinr.ru/ JINR participation on the experimental program at GSI future facility 20-21 Nov., 2003

NEW DETECTOR LABORATORY at LHE JINR JINR participation on the experimental program at GSI future facility 20 – 21 Nov., 2003 Total area: ~ 400 sq. m Clean rooms: ~120 sq. m (class 10.000) Climate facility : (temperature and humidity control)

NEW WINDING MACHINE, CLEAN ROOM Winding machine Under PC control (  ~20  ) Max. size: 2 m JINR participation on the experimental program at GSI future facility 20-21 Nov., 2003 Clean room

High Acceptance Di- Electron Spectrometer (HADES) JINR participation on the experimental program at GSI future facility 20 – 21 Nov., 2003

Main parameters of HADES drift chambers (plane-2) __________________________________________________ 6 trapezoidal low mass mini drift chambers (modules) were constructed at LHE JINR ( including R&D and Prototyping ) for Plane-2 of the HADES Spectrometer. Each module has an active area ~ 0,5 m 2 and contains 6 drift chambers with different angle of winding. Gas mixture – He + Isobutan, Cathode and Field wires performed from annealed Al wires. It reduces the radiation length x/Xo per chamber below 5 x 10 -4 Max. drift time ~ 80 ns Efficiency ~ 99 % (with high multiplicity) Position resolution (track fit for 2 chambers) ~ 39 mkm JINR participation on the experimental program at GSI future facility 20 – 21 Nov., 2003
