2EDT 51 - Auxiliary Views Multiview Drawings u Principal views of multiview drawings are top, front and side views. u These views are normally adequate for describing the shape and size of most objects. u Objects which have features which are not in these principle planes need auxiliary views to adequately describe them.

3EDT 51 - Auxiliary Views Auxiliary Views u Auxiliary views provide the following basic information for features appearing on other than principal surfaces: u true length of a line u identifying the point view of a line u finding the edge view of a plane u determining the true size of a plane. u Finding the true angle between planes.

4EDT 51 - Auxiliary Views Auxiliary Views u Auxiliary views are projected from orthographic views u horizontal (top) u frontal (front) u profile (right)

5EDT 51 - Auxiliary Views Primary Auxiliary Views u A primary auxiliary view is a first, or direct projection of an inclined surface. u It is projected perpendicularly to one of the principal orthographic views. u A primary auxiliary view is perpendicular to only one of the principal views.
