Copyright and related rights n The Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (1896). Important revisions in 1967 and 1971. Latest amendment in 1979. n Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (1995) n The WIPO Diplomatic Conference (1996): WIPO Copyright Treaty and WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty. Adopted by over 100 countries. Currently being implemented in national law/the EU.

Intellectual property - A generic concept covering a number of different types of protection of the rights for the works created by human intellect - scientific or technical inventions (patents) and technical know-how - trademarks - other artistic and intellectual works developed, such as books, paintings, sculptures, music. - copyright and droit d’auteur (moral/artistic rights)

Recent amendments in relevant Norwegian laws n Norwegian law on copyright: A recent amendment states that computer programs developed by an employee as a part of his/her work is the property of the employer n Law on Patents: Scientific personnel have the ownership of patented inventions made during their work and are therefore excluded from the regulations of the law on patents
