Observation: Brad and Sara were playing at recess with the same type of ball. Brad noticed that when Sara bounced the ball close to the ground, it didn’t bounce as high as when she bounced it from shoulder level. Brad talked with her, and they decided to do extra credit for their science class and create an investigation to find out if this is always true. Question: ( What are you going to test?) ________________________________________________________________________ Hypothesis (prediction): ( If manipulated variable.. then, responding variable …) _________________________________________________________________________ Name _____________________________________________________ Date _________________________ B ouncy B all! Does the height that you drop a ball affect its return bounce? If the height that a ball is dropped increases, then the height the ball bounces will increase

Materials Procedure Bouncy ball Meter Stick 1.Locate 100cm, 75cm, & 50cm on the meter stick 2.Drop bouncy ball from 100cm. 3.Measure & record the max. height of bounce return as trial 1 4.Repeat steps 2 & 3 three more times, for a total of 4 trials 5.Repeat steps 2-4 for a 75cm drop & a 50cm drop. 6.Calculate and record averages for each height

Date Collection: Quantitative results. Use charts, tables and graphs to organize your data. Drop Height Height of bounce return in cm T1T2T3T4AVG. 100cm 75cm 50cm
