3. Sinned Against - Despised Joseph - Father gave coat Despised by brothers Jesus - Mt. 27:18 - for envy Isa. 53:3 “despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.”

4. “He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” John 1:11 Joseph’s brothers took advantage of him. They even talked about killing him as the Jews talked of killing the Son of God. Matt. 27:1

5. Application: 1 Pet. 4:16 “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.” II Tim. 3:12 “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.”

6. Sold for a Price Joseph = 20 pieces of silver Jesus = 30 pieces of silver Zech. 11:12-13 – prophecy Matt. 27:3-8 - fulfillment

7. Application: Sometimes people will sell friendship for money or fame. “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Pro. 18:24 NKJV

8. His Great Love Joseph still had great love for his brothers – Gen. 42:24 Christ had great love for Jerusalem – Luke 13:34 John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this,...”

9. Application : Mt. 5:44 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Rom. 12:14-21 “Bless them”

10. Sent to Preserve Life Joseph told his brothers not to be angry because God sent him to preserve life - Gen. 45:5 Christ was sent for this reason Matt. 1:21Lk. 19:10

11. Application: Rom. 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Rom. 8:31b “If God be for us, who can be against us?”

12. Is Found Alive Joseph had been sold into Egypt – they never expected to see him again Gen. 37:35 – Jacob mourned Gen. 45:3 “I am Joseph” Gen. 45:25-28 – Jacob hears

13. Is Found Alive Christ had been dead but they found him alive Luke 24:5-7 - Angel spoke Acts 2:23-24 – crucifiers 1 Cor. 15:19-20 - first fruits

14. Is Found Alive Joseph brought blessings to his family In the resurrection of Christ we have hope – II Tim. 1:10 He was found alive to bless all mankind.

15. Pardon for Penitents Joseph’s brother were afraid He forgave and promised only blessings - Gen. 45:15 Christ will forgive all who sin against him. - Acts 2:38

16. Pardon for Penitents Saul was told “Now why tarriest thou? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” Acts 22:16 “I am come that they may have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
