Program Description The Youth Development Coordinator identifies at-risk youth through truancy and behavior referrals. The YDC meets with these youth weekly, communicates with family, refers to resources, provides cognitive classes and assists Law Enforcement with criminal acts in the school. A Youth Development Team has been developed to attend conferences and provide presentations to other youth and community members.

Assessment Focus There are 5 domains that identify areas to target for interventions. Family Functioning Peer Association Attachment to School Substance Abuse Mental Health

Case Management 16 4 13 50 Total Assessments show outcomes of decreasing risk factors by 66% and increasing protective factors by 60%. 5 12 2 9 17 5

Cognitive Classes 15 18 44 7 10 12 48 77 youth have attended classes to date

Youth Development Team 11 Active Members Attended 3 conferences Provided bullying presentation to JCMS Will provide Underage Drinking presentation to community in April

Summary Due to lack of resources, this program is a very effective way to reach at-risk youth and provide them with individual contact, treatment and program referral and opportunity to participate in positive youth development. Results are proving to be very effective.
