MECHANICAL COMPUTER Charles Babbage (1792-1871) invented the first mechanical computer to tabulate polynomial functions. None of his designs were ever built during his lifetime.

ADA BYRON, LADY LOVELACE Considered to be the first computer programmer. Created plans for how Babbage’s Analytical Engine could calculate Bernoulli numbers. U.S. Department of Defense named a language “Ada” in her honor in 1979.
