Welcome back!  Sit wherever – but not alone!  If you have your contracts, bring them to me!!  Have your notes from last night out for me to check off  Get started on the following warm-up with your group members:  Consider the following reaction occurring in aqueous solution:  2HI (aq) + Ba(OH) 2 (aq) –> 2H 2 O (l) + BaI 2 (aq)  Write the complete ionic and net ionic equation for this reaction.

Test Retake Policy  Come in before school/after school/at lunch and correct all wrong questions (not for credit)  Corrections consist of explanations for what you did wrong the first time, the right answer, and an explanation of WHY that’s the right answer  Talk to me about ANYTHING you don’t understand  If your notes or packet weren’t 100% complete yesterday, they must be done before you can retake (not for credit)  Retake a different version of the test for full credit  All retakes must be done NO LATER than Thursday, September 24 th

Net Ionic Reaction Lab  Goggles on  Working in pairs with 14 different chemicals  Fill a pipette with the chemical  Carry it to your station  Carefully lay it down sideways when you’re not using it  Do not cross contaminate!!!  One drop of each chemical in the proper box  Use your data sheet to record results – reaction or no reaction?  Clean up  Use a paper towel to wipe off your clear sheet. Throw away paper towel in the garbage.  Rinse the clear sheet off in the sink.  Dry it off and put it back at your station  Put all your pipettes back where they belong – empty into containers!  Wash your hands, put your goggles away neatly  Come back into the classroom

Net Ionic Reaction Lab “Report”  For each combination that formed a precipitate, provide the following  Balanced chemical reaction with states of matter  Net ionic reaction with states of matter  Number your reactions so they match your data table  Refer to solubility rules (in your textbook or online) to figure out which compound was the solid  If there is a discrepancy between what your data shows and what solubility rules say should have happened, go with your data.

Announcements  NIR lab due tomorrow  Read and take notes on section 4.5 (BL) tonight  We will be starting a new lab tomorrow (it will take 3 class periods to complete)  Bring your lab notebook!  Complete the Google survey (by tomorrow afternoon)
