How to plan and create a revision timetable What equipment you will need to start revising What type of environment you will need for effective revision How to keep motivated How to reward yourself for completing revision tasks

Timetable Break down subjects into topic areas and revise each of these. Build in breaks (20 minutes every 90 minutes) No need to ‘cram’ the night before Tick off each section once it is completed Keep motivated but realistic No need to overwork

Essential Pen Spare pen! Pencil Sharpener Rubber Ruler Calculator (maths) Pre release materials/ set text Paper (plain and lined, available from your subject teacher on request) Postcards Highlighters Post it notes Coloured pencils Desirable

Quiet enough to concentrate Correct equipment before beginning revision Suitable space No distractions Where revision materials can be left undisturbed – if possible

Take breaks Don’t pretend – only you will lose out! Don’t be negative, figure out what went wrong and put it right Timetable in study with friends to test each other Reward yourself (chocolate is good!) Sleep well Exercise Have a good diet eat fish (it’s good for the brain!!) fresh fruit and vegetables drinks lots of water

Block in down time Take a break – do something different away from revision environment Get some fresh air/ go to see a friend Perhaps chose your favourite dinner for completing a week’s revision Parents – organise a special treat to reward sustained and motivated revision Have something to look forward to when it is all over.
