4 Fast fact  There are three levels of Government in Australia- Federal, State and Local.  The Australia Constitution created the Federal Parliament.  The political party with the majority of elected members in the House of Representatives forms the Government.  There are 16 Government Departments covering all areas of Federal responsibility.  The Federal Parliament passes between 150 and 220 new laws every year.

This works out to 2 years, 6 months and about two weeks.  John Howard was Australia’s 25th Prime Minister served from 11 March 1996 until 3 December 2007, the second-longest prime ministerial term after Robert Menzies.
