Farmers began planting around the Indus River in 6000 BC. This is 1,000 years before farming began in Egypt
Farmers grew wheat, barley, beans, and sesame, along with the first rice, bananas, and black peppers
Domesticated animals to plow fields and transport goods
Built irrigation canals to bring water from river to their crops
By 3000 BC towns formed along the river, 30 years later these would grow into mighty cities
