ALABAMA ALLIANCE FOR HEALTHY YOUTH. Our mission is to improve the state of sexual health in youth across Alabama through advocacy efforts. HIV IN YOUTH - NATIONWIDE. 1 in 4 new HIV infections occurs in youth ages 13 to 24 years. Nearly 60% of new infections in youth occur in African Americans, about 20% in Hispanics/Latinos, and about 20% in whites. About 60% of all youth with HIV do not know they are infected, are not getting treated, and can unknowingly pass the virus on to others. GENERAL STATISTICS Source: Vital Signs, CDC
