3 Short term Fatigue Inactivity Trouble breathing Trouble sleeping Learning unhealthy eating habits Poor self esteem Cardiovascular diseases Type two diabetes Fatty liver Bone and joint problems Sleep apnea Susceptibility to cancers Long term

4 It is proven that health has a connection to learning. Children who have a poor diet and low activity will either have to much energy or in this case be sluggish. Poor diets cause inattention frustration and low self esteem which in turn effect ability to absorb material and eagerness to learn.

5 Children Teach healthy eating habits (food groups) Give plenty of opportunities to be active during the day Model healthy eating Model energy and activity Encourage healthy snacks and plenty of water drinking Involve parents in healthy foods lesson with take home projects or parent days Address concerns with parents and ask them to seek the advice of a physician Parents

6 Start the day with stretching for 10-15 minutes In cooperate motion into classroom activities such as acting out a story, passing around a ball for a Q & A session or going on classroom hunts. Extend recess or make it more valuable with running or jumping games Give out awards for healthy snack choices Post and discuss the food pyramid and serving sizes

8 Include In your lesson (maybe for science) Healthy food discussion and activities Talk about exercise and its benefits Give children the opportunity to talk about their eating habits Talk about your own habits and model desired behavior (EAT FRUITS AND VEGGIES IN FRONT OF THEM!!!)
