MATTHEW Chapter 13:24-43 PARABLES OF WEEDS MUSTARD AND LEAVEN HOW TO DETECT WHAT IS FALSE I.INTRODUCTION A.Jesus teaching parables about seeds.

1.Parable of the seeds sown only ¼ sprung into a bountiful harvest. a) 25% get saved! (1) Pretty incredible! (a) Today less than 3%. (b) Takes resources to reach that 3%.

(c)That 3% in your family is priceless! II.Matthew 13:24-30 A.The Kingdom of Heaven here is not heaven! 1.No planting or harvesting in Heaven!

a) The need is now. B.The “man” = Jesus. 1.Verse 25 a) Jesus never sleeps. (1) Wheat and tares they look alike. (a) False teachings = tares!

(b)2Timothy 4:2-5 (c) 2Timothy 3:1-7 (i) So many “unable to endure sound doctrine.” (ii) People “lovers of themselves”. (iii)Verse 7 (a) They talk ABOUT God.

(b) “Seeker friendly” churches popular? (i) “godly entertainment”! (iv) Christians need that?” (a) 25% accepted the truth. (i) The world is perishing!

2.Jesus will take care of the tares. a) False teachers will be with us! b) They will look and sound “real”. (1) Playing in the weeds! III.Matthew 13:31-32

A.The birds “ate up” the seeds. 1. They were on satan’s side. 2. The Christian told to be “salt.” a)Mustard no nutritional value. (1) Hotdogs!

3.Mustard seed – “seeker churches”. a) Breeding ground for these birds. (1) Numbers = success. (a) A large church is not bad! IV.CONCLUSION

A.Another short parable. 1.Matthew 13:33-35 a) Flour made from wheat! b) Leaven = sin! (1) All turned to leaven. (2) Baking stops its affect!

(a) Sin will corrupt everything. B.Matthew 13:36-43 1.Watch for the weeds! a) We can play in a different field.
