April 2004 EAST SIDE UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT Options for Relieving Anticipated Overcrowding At Evergreen Valley High School CONTRIBUTING FACTORS New campus construction attracts students otherwise enrolled in private schools or other District facilities New campus construction stimulates new housing construction within District boundaries, with an emphasis on families with school-age children Growth in east San Jose continues in spite of the local economy, and is expected to continue or increase

April 2004 EAST SIDE UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT Options for Relieving Anticipated Overcrowding At Evergreen Valley High School OPTIONS OPTIONS (continued) 2.Install 12 re-locatable classroom buildings on the Evergreen Valley High School campus until a permanent solution is in place (this option is currently in progress) 3.Develop an “offsite” Magnet Program in cooperation with Evergreen Valley College Initially designed to accommodate approximately 200 students, with planned growth capability Use re-locatable classrooms on existing Evergreen Valley College land Lease existing EVC facilities Lease land from EVC and build facilities

April 2004 EAST SIDE UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT Options for Relieving Anticipated Overcrowding At Evergreen Valley High School ADDENDUM During the course of presenting the preceding information at the April 8, 2004 Board of Trustees meeting, Item 9.23 of Attachment A of the meeting Agenda was discussed and referenced. Item 9.23 of Attachment A deals with “Revisions of Board Policy 5117 and Administrative Regulation 155”. These Revisions reference approved strategies proposed by the (ESUHSD) superintendent to reduce overcrowded conditions at Evergreen Valley High School while creating balanced and consistent enrollment standards District-wide. The complete text of Item 9.23 of Attachment A is included following this slide.
