Foods for Christmas On Christmas Day morning, a big feast is held, called a consoda. In the early morning hours of Christmas they enjoy a additional feast. In some places crumbs are left out for the health of the Souls.

Traditions Many families attend Midnight Mass called “Missa do Galo” on Christmas Eve. Thereupon, they gather around the table and have supper. For dessert they have traditional desserts such as Bolo Rei that contains little gifts in it.

Santa in Portugal People in Portugal don’t belive in Santa Claus, but the three wisemen who gave gifts to the baby Jesus. The three wisemen come on January 5 or Epiphany Eve. Kids leave their shoes out by the windowsill and fill it with carrots and straw to attract the wisemen’s horses.

Boas Festas Boas Festas is how you say Merry Christmas in Portuguese.
