 What is Form?  Creating Forms  Form Views  Calculated Controls

 A form is a database object that you can use to enter, edit, or display data from a table or a query. (Access 2007)  A well designed form will provide a faster and more accurate way for a user to input data when compared to a table.  Forms usually show one record at a time.  When a value in a form is edited this value is reflected in the underlying table or query.

 Form Tool - Single Item Form  Split Form  Multi Item Form  Blank Form  Datasheet Form  Form Wizard

 The Form Tool can be used to create a simple single item form.  A single item form shows one record at a time.

 The Split Form provides a datasheet and a form view of the same data.  The datasheet view allows you to quickly locate a particular record while the form view allows you to quickly edit the form.

 In contrast to a simple form, a multi item form allows more than one record to be shown at a time.  The multi item form resembles a table in datasheet view but allows for graphical elements, buttons and controls to be added.

 A blank provide provides you with a new blank form that can be customized.  Creating a form using the blank form is used when the other creation options do not provide the type a form that suits a user.

 Allows you to quickly create a datasheet form. This type of form allows you to find records very quickly.

 Provides a step by step process for creating a form.  The user can select which fields to include and specify how data is group and sorted.

 Form View – used for inputting and modifying the data.  Layout View – used to edit/add/delete the position and size of elements on the form while showing the data. The record data cannot be modified.  Design View – provides additional controls beyond Layout View to edit/add/delete elements on the from while NOT displayed the data. The record data cannot be modified.

 A calculated control is a control element that contains a formula (expression) that will display a result in a from or report.
