Using the computer for schoolwork doesn’t use up all of those hours! 2.Keep the computer in a central location if possible. Learn about Internet safety so you can educate and protect your family. Discuss what to do if your teen encounters a problem online. 3.Discuss what it means to give out “personal” information including posting photos and videos on sites or sending this information to others. 4.Monitor the sites that your teen visits. Tell your teen that you will! 5.Tell your teen that you want to see any personal web page they create. 6.Discuss cell phone use including video, photo, text messaging and Internet guidelines. 7.Seek advice if you see warning signs of a preoccupation with certain activities on the computer. 8.Contact the Dean’s Office or the Counseling Department with any concerns including online disrespect or harassment regarding your student or others. 9.Always contact the police with suspicious behavior.
