1
What is it? How do you define it? Are there differences in it?
2
A country’s foreign policy, also called foreign relations policy, consists of self-interest strategies chosen by a country to safeguard its national interests and to achieve goals within its international relations among other nations.
3
EXAMPLES OF US FOREIGN POLICY ISSUES: Russia’s position in the Middle East/Europe Our role in the Middle East and Africa The U.S. and China’s relationship The war against ISIS in Iraq and Syria The problems with illegal immigration in the United States and how that applies to relationships between the U.S. and Latin American nations (Mexico, for example)
4
The Israeli/Palestinian Conflict: 1. The United States should give Israel its full and absolute support. 2. The United States should alter its position and give far more support to the Palestinians. 3. The United States should seek a balance between the Israelis and Palestinians in terms of support. 4. The United States should remove itself from this issue altogether/not entirely sure.
5
In at least two well-written paragraphs (5 to 7 sentences each) explain in detail a current policy issue that concerns the United States; take a position on whether you think this is a positive or negative action and why (use the discussion in class and the handout to assist you.)
