Why write a proposal? Basic means of convincing someone to support a project. Important tool for organizing time and resources to complete a project which fully realizes your objectives. Invaluable in structuring ideas about carrying out design project and writing conclusions. Serves as an informal "Contract" to establish an agreement about the content and limits of the project. The project proposal is a widely used communications tool in the professional world.

Writing Style A clear writing style greatly aids in getting your point across Unclear writing makes the reviewer have to work harder, and it will usually cost you in the end Start with an outline, containing important points you want to make for each section of the proposal Then, develop a single paragraph for each point you want to make.

Title Page Title should be concise and reflect on the content of the project Name and logo of company and client Date An appropriate picture of the product

Executive Summary One page summary of your project proposal Oriented to decision makers/ executives

Introduction First major section the reader encounters, so you want to make it as effective as you can to encourage further interest. Introduces the proposal and its significance from the point of view of the company that will benefit from the project. Briefly summarizes what you will present in detail in the body of the proposal. Helps introduce the project subject, and explains why the problem is worth solving and who will be interested in the solutions. Explains the major assumptions. Company Overview: –Brief description of the company, its products/services, and its facilities.

Background Study and Site Analysis What are the fundamental problems that should be solved? Describes the background and context for the project, and why it is being undertaken (be concise, but complete). Mentions the business value of the project. Includes a flowchart if necessary to enhance explanation. Justifies the project
