The guiding question we will look at today is… Were the Birmingham Civil Rights leaders justified in using children to march in protest against discrimination? Working with others, you will examine both sides of the argument and their reasons.

April 1963 – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. arrived in Birmingham – one of the most racially divided cities in the south Boycotts, sit – ins, and marches asking for equal rights resulted in mass arrests April 12, 1963 – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is arrested and thrown in the jail. He writes his famous Letter from Birmingham Jail calling for support for the cause.
