If we are being transformed, we will pursue heavenly things. (Colossians 3:1-3) The life that is not being transformed is often choked with worldly pursuits (Luke 8:14)

What possessions are we pursuing? Material or Spiritual? (Matthew 6:24) The world measures success by material wealth. (Luke 12:15) Yet material wealth is untrustworthy (1 Timothy 6:17; Prov. 23:5; James 1:11) It’s value cannot compare to heavenly riches (Luke 16:11 Proverbs 13:7) Covetousness motivates the pursuit of material wealth (Hebrews 13:5; Eph. 5:3)

The transformed life seeks spiritual riches. Found in God’s word. (Psalm 119:36-38) Found in God’s provisions. (Hebrews 13:5; Philippians 4:19) Found in living a godly life. (1 Timothy 6:6-11)

What pleasures are we pursuing? Fleshly or Spiritual? Pursuing fleshly pleasure… Is the opposite of pursuing God. 2 Timothy 3:4 Dooms the soul! 1 Timothy 5:6; 1 Corinthians 10:6-7; 2 Peter 2:13 Provides no ultimate satisfaction. Ecclesiastes 2:1-11

The transformed life pursues… Pleasing God instead of self. (1 Thessalonians 4:1; Colossians 1:10; Romans 8:8) Holiness. (1 Peter 1:14-16; Hebrews 12:14; 2 Timothy 2:22) Love. (1 Corinthians 14:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:15)
