The set of moral principles by which people conduct themselves personally, socially, or professionally Business Ethics: A set of laws about how a business should conduct itself Businesses have some legal responsibilities to do what is right for society’s welfare Can a business behave unethically and still operate within the law? Shareholder: A person/company/organization that owns any part of the company; shares in business profits and losses Stakeholder: A person/group/organization that has direct or indirect stake in an organization because it can affect or be affected by the organization's actions, objectives, and policies Ex: Employees, customers, communities, environment? Driving Forces in Business Ethics

“The duty to do what is best for the good of society” Do businesses have a social responsibility? If so, how do they fulfill this responsibility? Making profits for shareholders? Sharing profits with society-at-large? Social Responsibility
