The Compound Light Microscope Eyepiece Lens – magnifies 10x To find total magnification multiple eyepiece x objective lens 10 x 4 = 40x 10 x 10 = 100x 10 x 40 = 400x Objective Lens – 3 to 4 low power 4x High power 10x and 40x Oil immersion 100x Revolving nose piece – turns the objective lens Arm - used to carry the microscope Stage – holds slides Stage Clips – holds slide in place Course Adjustment – Use only with 4x. Used first to focus Fine Adjustment – use with all lenses to refine the image Diaphragm – regulates light coming through stage – can be a disc or iris. Base – light source

Care of the Microscope Carry with 2 hands! Put objective lens on low power when done Cool lamp and wrap cord around base Cover and store on cart
