Why stable society needs law enforcement In order to maintain a stable society we need to enforce laws to create a safe environment for everyone. Without the laws, the streets and surroundings would be full of chaos, not allowing everyone to live in a safe condition. Therefore enforcing laws are important which will reduce/stop others from doing wrong things to the community and the surroundings.

Fast facts 150 policemen and women have lost their lives in the line of job. Victoria Police was authorised on 3 January, 1853.

Victoria Police owns 46 motorbikes, 32 marked road bikes and 14 off-road bikes. There are 2300+ vehicles in the Victoria Police including divisional vans, marked cars, unmarked cars & etc. Fast facts

William Henry Fancourt Mitchell was the first Chief Commissioner. Simon Overland was the 20th Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police.

Fast Facts Victoria Police services are available to the community 24 hours a day, seven-days-a- week. There are more than 328 permanent police stations across Victoria.
