12
Which route to choose Upgrade Simple to perform No migration process Users do not need to change credentials Domain and system names do not need to change Migration Easy to revert to old system in case of issues Opportunity to re-organise Agents help manage changes to users
13
SBS 2003 Limitations Must be the root of the Active Directory ® forest Only one SBS server per domain Only one Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server per domain Trusts are disabled (except some during migration) Terminal Services in Application Sharing mode is not included (Remote Administration is available)
14
What Setup manages for you Local network adapter NTFS-formatted system drive Active Directory DNS DHCP and Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) Internet Information Services (IIS) Routing and Remote Access Service Microsoft Exchange Windows SharePoint ™ Services
15
Note: The final configuration of the server is not truly completed until the To Do List items are completed.
16
Quiz one Which product installed in SBS2003 would be described as a ‘collaborative tool’? Which 3 products are not available in the standard edition of SBS2003? What is the file containing the Active Directory database called?

Migrating More effort than in-place Upgrade Great if new hardware is required Best to follow Whitepaper at: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=16415
36
Process Overview Prepare for the Migration. Prepare Client Computers Begin the Migration Configure the SBS 2003 Server Configure Client Computers Finish the Migration
37
Migration Requirements Internal domain names for servers must be different Server names (NETBIOS) must be different The source server will be decommissioned, so services such as DHCP will be offered by new server Migration uses ADMT and Exchange Migration Wizard (which means manual export of mailbox rules, Admin mailbox and public folders) Custom settings on new server have to be setup by hand DNS must be running on both systems during migration
38
Prepare for Migration Ensure the source server is running the latest service packs Back up the source server Collect system necessary information Export public folders, Administrator account mailbox and rules Disable DHCP on old system Install SBS 2003 on destination Server Complete up to network setup Notify users that they must log off of the domain.
39
Prepare Client Computers Export mail rules Remove personal firewalls Remove shared modem client (SBS) Remove ISA client if not using ISA 2000 on new server Release & renew DHCP addresses Delete any SBS specific links from desktop and IE Delete SBS faxes or printers
40
Computer Migration Tools For clients computers running an O/S of: Windows NT Workstation 4.0 or a member server running Windows NT Server 4.0 Windows 2000 Professional or Server Windows XP Professional, Windows Server™ 2003 Use ADMT to migrate users, groups and computers For client computers running an O/S of: Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Millennium Edition You manually configure See Whitepaper - “Step 6. Configure Client Computers.”
41
Begin the Migration Configure DNS forwarders on the old and new servers Install and configure ADMT Migrate user, group, and computer accounts Update mail quota on new server Migrate Exchange mailboxes Move shared folders, application data Migrate any SQL Server™ databases
42
Configure the SBS 2003 Server Assign user accounts to a Windows Small Business Server 2003 template Deploy applications to the client computers Completing the Management Tasks on the To Do List Apply custom settings from the old server Finish Exchange migration
43
Configure Client Computers Log in Let applications load Set e-mail and proxy settings
44
Finish Migration Remove permissions that were necessary for the migration Uninstall ADMT You also configure password policies Verifying that all necessary data and settings were migrated Retire the old server
