In Cold Blood Section 14 By: Madison Afdahl(7 th ) and Phoebe Ballard (3 rd )

Lets figure out WHO is involved Mrs. Meier was a woman who often brought food to Perry and kept him company. She worked at Finney County court house where Richard and Perry were being kept. She was sad when Perry left the court house because she was aware of his fate. Earl Wilson was another inmate on death row convicted for kidnap, rape, and torture of a young woman. Bobby Joe Spencer confessed to murdering an elderly woman and killed another young convict while behind bars Lowell Lee Andrews was a young man who murdered his family without any remorse Richard and Perry are inmates Reverend Dameron was a minister who knew Lowell James Douglas Latham and George Ronald York were partners in crime during a cross country killing spree.

WHEN is this happening? End of March beginning of April Perry and Richard remained in jail for approximately 2 years October 25, 1962 was the day Perry and Richard were supposed to be hung but the date was moved back. Friday May 13, 1960 was the original date Perry and Richard were to be executed.

WHERE is all of this chaos happening? Perry and Richard were transported to Kansas State Penitentiary for Men in Lansing, Kansas. Specifically the Segregation and Isolation Building in which the upper level is for those on death row. Description of the cells: “the cells are identical. They measure seven by ten feet, and are unfurnished except for a cot, a toilet, a basin, and an overhead light bulb that is never extinguished night or day. The cell windows are very narrow, and not only barred but covered with a wire mesh black as a widow’s veil; thus the faces of those sentenced to hang can be but hazily discerned by passers-by”(310).

Important events/conflict Perry is unable to deal with the fact that he was going to die, so he began to starve himself over a period of 14 weeks. After a certain amount of time he gave up on that. Richard refuses to take responsibility for the murder constantly saying that he is not a killer even though he was clearly part of it and now he is in a state of denial. He is doing everything in his power to not be convicted for his crimes.
