SUB-THEME IDENTIFIED Based on the definition, the sub-themes are: – Defining information needs – Accessibility – Evaluation and Processing – Strategic Use of Information Retrieved CARICOM

DEFINING INFORMATION NEEDS This refers to a person’s ability to further refine their information needs in order to meet the pre-determined objective. Analysis of this sub-theme seeks to determine the role of ICT in defining information needs. CARICOM

DEFINING INFORMATION NEEDS: Indicators and Justification Indicators: Percent of population reporting that they use computers/internet for research Percent of population reporting that they use books/magazines for research Percentage of population reporting that they use television/radio for research Justification: Provides information on the population relative to their use of ICT when conducting research ( which reflects the act of refining ones information needs) CARICOM

DEFINING INFORMATION NEEDS: Indicators and Justification (cont’d) Indicators: Percent of employed reporting that they use computers/internet for work-related research Percent of employed reporting that they use books/magazines for work-related research Percent of employed reporting that they use television/radio for work-related research Justification: Drills down further and provides information on the employed relative to their use of ICT when conducting research CARICOM

EVALUATION AND PROCESSING Refers to a person’s ability to review and interpret the information after it has been received. Analysis of this sub-theme seeks to determine whether ICT facilitates faster and more efficient evaluation and processing of information. CARICOM

EVALUATION AND PROCESSING: Indicators and Justification Indicators: Percent of population reporting improvement in processing/evaluating information via the use of computers Percent of population reporting improvement in processing/evaluating information via the use of television/radios Justification Provides information on the success achieved by the general population in processing and valuating information using ICT. CARICOM

EVALUATION AND PROCESSING: Indicators and Justification (cont’d) Indicators: Percent of employed reporting improvement in processing/evaluating information via the use of computers Percent of employed reporting improvement in processing/evaluating information via the use of television/radios Justification Provides information on the success achieved by the employed in processing and evaluating information using ICT. CARICOM

EVALUATION AND PROCESSING: Indicators and Justification (cont’d) Indicators: Percent of students reporting improvement in processing/evaluating information via the use of computers Percent of students reporting improvement in processing/evaluating information via the use of television/radios Justification Shows the success students experienced in Processing and evaluating information using ICT. CARICOM

STRATEGIC USE OF INFORMATION Refers to the to which the objectives set were achieved. It is presumed that, given the improved access to information and ability to process and evaluate information more effectively, ICT facilitates greater achievement of objectives. CARICOM

STRATEGIC USE OF INFORMATION Indicators and Justification Indicators: Percent of population reporting achievement of objectives based on information received via the use of computers Percent of population reporting achievement of objectives based on information received via the use of television/radios Percent of employed reporting achievement of objectives based on information received via the use of computers Percent of employed reporting achievement of objectives based on information received via the use of television/radios CARICOM
