35
Graphics - advantages Allows better understanding of all changes in sensors/actuator signals Analysis of dynamic situations Describe cause-effect relations Can help in the situation of intermittent problem Can find faults where there is no fault code
36
Opel Vectra Intermittent, uneven work of the engine at approx. 2100 rpm, suggesting a misfire. No fault codes stored. Suspect – faulty ignition system. The vehicle visited 5 garages that replaced all of the following Ignition plugs Ignition coil CKP sensor CMP sensor Mass Air Flow meter Take a look at the parameters of the engine? Case study

Cause & Effect The same data presented in the graphic mode. You able to localize the problem now!
39
Citroen Saxo 1999 Idle speed increases intermittently over 2100 rpm while slowing down at junctions. No codes stored Conducted works Replaced idle speed actuator Suggested ECU replacement in case of problem return Case study: intermittent problem not being registered as a fault code
40
PID triggers has been set to cover the range of speed between 750 – 1500 rpm The problem occurred after 35 min. Idle speed increased over threshold value 1500 rpm, therefore, scanner automatically started recording data. Gathered data has been analysed once the recording had finished. Automatic recording of the vehicle data using PID triggers
41
Cause & Effect PIDs display in the form of graphic pattern – automatic recording of the intermittent problem conditions
42
–Advanced scope originated function –Very useful during a test derive –Shows a full potential of PIDs in face of intermittent problem PID Triggers
