Consider the factors that make people volunteer

WHAT? What actually motivates a person to volunteer is a complex question. Yet understanding this motivation can be of great assistance to organisations in attracting, placing and retaining volunteers.

WHAT? We are all motivating ourselves and others (in Scouting and in general). We should be more aware what are the motivation factors. Be creative, open and imaginative (think out of the box). Internal / external motivation.

WHAT? Work with others, use existing materials. How to integrate it into every days lives (keep it simple). Make it a issue / how to tell it in the best possible way. Be aware of levels of motivation in different target groups.

HOW? 1.Analyzing motivation factors 2.Consult theory 3.Share best practices 4.Explore new methods 5.Do training of motivation as part on “normal” training 6.Make it part of management of adult resources 7.Make it part of the culture of the movement 8.Formalize motivation (awards, rewards etc.) 9.Establish partnership
