 www.carleton.ca/registrar www.carleton.ca/registrar  Approve courses to fit into your program in consultation with your department.  Explain the credit transfer system for your institution.  Maintain contact with you via your “My Carleton” connect account.  Transfer your credits at the end of your study abroad.  Study Abroad Designation

 Ensure you have an active “My Carleton” connect account, check your email account regularly. (FIPPA) http://connect.carleton.ca http://connect.carleton.ca  Check Exchange Database for courses that have already been evaluated  Major and minor forms were to be submitted to the departments for advising, and elective forms to be submitted on-line to the Registrar’s office by March 31 st for 2010 Fall exchanges, and by October 15 th for 2010 Winter exchanges.  Download Course Evaluation forms from www.carleton.ca/registrar/internationalexchange.htm www.carleton.ca/registrar/internationalexchange.htm

 Interdisciplinary Programs i.e: B. Humanities, Criminology, Human Rights, DIS, etc. – submit courses via the online electives form.  All BIB & B.Comm students are required to use the Sprott On-Line Form to submit their course descriptions at:  https://sprott.carleton.ca/send/bib_course_de scription.html https://sprott.carleton.ca/send/bib_course_de scription.html  After the RO registers you in the full-time course indicator, go to Carleton Central and make fee payments.

 You may not be able to register in your courses until you arrive  Registration may be similar to experience at Carleton  Changes may occur after you arrive  No guarantee of space in courses  Timetable conflicts

 Contact your Registrar Specialist immediately if there are any changes to your course selection or registration.  Submit any new courses for evaluation online to: www.carleton.ca/registrar/internationalexchange.htm www.carleton.ca/registrar/internationalexchange.htm  Notify your Registrar Specialist when your registration is completed at the host University.

In order to have courses evaluated you must provide:  The original course description in the language of the school with source (i.e.: Calendar or website).  The year level at the host university.  Translation of course descriptions.  Identity of translator (i.e.: yourself, google, etc.).  Credit weight of each course according to host institution (i.e.: ECTS, units and credit points).  Submit more courses for evaluation than the number of courses you intend to register for. - Rule of thumb: double your credit value

 Students are required to register in a full time course load as defined by Carleton University for academic and financial purposes.  One course at another University does not necessarily equal 0.5 Carleton credits.  The number of credits transferred depends on the number of credits completed. i.e.: 6 ECTS = 0.5 CU credits

 Once you have confirmed your registration, a grade of CEX (current exchange) will appear on your audit and you will receive a confirmation email.  Successful credit (or pass) will appear as EXC on your audit and your Carleton University transcript (The grade is not transferred).

 Failures DO transfer to your Carleton record and will appear on your official transcript as an F.  Transferred F’s will be calculated into your CGPA until the credit is replaced.  Your Registrar Specialist will notify you through My Carleton Connect email to confirm your transfer credits are on your Carleton record.  If transferred credits are not sitting where you feel they should be on your audit, please consult with your departmental advisor.

 Prior to your departure, make arrangements for your transcript to be sent to Christine Marland, International Student Exchange Coordinator, International Student Services Office (ISSO), Rm 128 University Centre, Carleton University  Transcripts may be delayed. - Year level increase for registration purpose (assume successful completion of courses)  Graduation – review deadlines and application on Carleton Central.  Have Fun!!!
