KIRKCALDY September 1 st 2000 A bulldozer marked the end of the road for one of Kirkcaldy’s smallest streets, when eight houses were razed to the ground. The residences in Scott Street, situated between Alison Street and Saunders Street, were demolished after it was discovered They were subsiding due to mine workings beneath them. Blackpool Illuminations 3.11.10 – 7.11.10 Today, over a million lights will be switched on, including more than a hundred miles of bulbs strung along the promenade. The Blackpool Illuminations first started out way back in 1879 when just 8 electric arc lamps stood along the promenade. They were described as ‘artificial sunshine’ and were revolutionary as light bulbs weren’t even invented until 1878! Blackpool
