Reading, Writing, Speaking How much time – 1 or 2 meetings per week plus Research and writing on your own time Competitions – We compete in the SJDL at the Varsity and JV level - Wednesdays - Dec, Jan, Feb 2:30-6:00 at Cherokee High School Other competitions may be added.

5. What happens in a debate? The affirmative team argues that there is a horrible problem somewhere related to the national debate topic. The affirmative argues that this problem is caused by our current policies or lack of a policy The affirmative argues that they have a plan that will fix the problem.

6. What happens in debate? The negative team argues there’s no problem. Or maybe there is a problem but the affirmatives team won’t fix it or it will cause problems that are worse than the original.

7. It all comes down to evidence. We don’t believe you! You’re a high school student!
