1 Mrs. Parris Room 103 Welcome to Chemistry

2 Classroom Rules NO Food or Drinks (Except H2O) during lecture or lab.
Come to class Everyday, be On Time and Prepared Be in your seat and ready to start when the bell rings. You will not be allowed to return to your locker after the bell rings. Respect Yourself, Everyone and Everything around you. Come Willing to learn with a Positive Attitude

3 Materials & Supplies 2-3 inch 3-ring binder for Chemistry ONLY!
Loose leaf paper Black or Blue Pen (for note taking) and Pencil (for math work) Calculator and periodic tables will be provided daily.

4 Attendance Be on time for class everyday!
Reminder: 2 Tardies = 1 Absence Note: if you are coming from the 3rd building, this is not an excuse for being late! Consult the Student Handbook for Exam Exemptions based on attendance. There will be a quiz given daily. Unexcused absences will be awarded a zero on these quizzes.

5 Bathroom Breaks You do not go to the bathroom during my class, regardless of the activities going on… unless it is an EMERGENCY! I will be a little more lenient during the Tuesday/Thursday class.

6 Make-up Work Missed HOMEWORK assignments are the responsibility of the student. There is a folder of make-up work at the front of the room on the grades bulletin board. Let me know ahead of time if you are going to be absent and we can make arrangements. You are allowed 1 day to get the assignment, it is due the day after you return to school. You have TWO days to make up a QUIZ or TEST if your absence is excused.

7 Where to Find What I Missed?
I keep all assignments for a week on the calendar board behind my desk. It is your responsibility to look at it and keep up with your assignments.

8 Grades Your grades are periodically posted at the front of the room by student id number. It is your responsibility to keep up with your grade!

9 Notebook Policy I will conduct several notebook checks throughout the year. This is a MAJOR grade. You cannot have another subject in your notebook. Keep all quizzes, labs, homework, notes, SOL materials and handouts in your notebook in an orderly fashion. Neatness and organization will be a part of your notebook grade.

10 Labs and Lab Safety Take labs seriously. Be sure to do all pre-lab and post-lab assignments as they will part of your lab grade. You will be warned ONE time about unacceptable behavior. The next warning will be result in dismissal from the classroom.

11 Extra Credit You must EARN extra credit points. Extra credit assignments can come in many different forms. You must ask me for extra credit (way before the grading period ends) and you must be willing to work for it! There may be a few extra credit opportunities for the whole class throughout the year.

12 Grades A grade will be taken daily.
Your grade will come from class work, quizzes, homework, labs, notebooks, tests, major projects and daily participation. Daily participation includes if you are prepared with your materials. Your notes and major assignments will be on my website:

13 Availability I am available for help in the mornings before school from 7:45 until class starts. I am available after school depending on the sport that is in season. To assure I am available, please set up a date and time with me if you need help.

14 Chemistry is challenging, do not ever give up!
