2 Department for Culture, Media & Sport National Overview: D elivering superfast broadband and better mobile connectivity to the nation Phase 1: Superfast broadband coverage to 90% of UK by 2016 Standard broadband (2Mbps) for all Phase 2: Superfast broadband to 95% of UK by 2017 Exploring options to get superfast broadband to near universal coverage by 2018+

6 Digital Derbyshire Rollout Update Digital Derbyshire rollout ahead of schedule with over 35,000 of the 88,000 homes in the intervention area now being able to order superfast broadband 2,196 business lines have been ordered Phase 1 is now in delivery phase 5 of 9 Phase 2 tender evaluation is drawing to a close and we should be able to announce the extension for broadband rollout by end of May 2015.

7 Department for Culture, Media & Sport Ashbourne  Initial deployment in Phase 3 (end of 2014)  Further deployment planned for Phase 7 (Autumn 2015)  1138 premises of which, 166 are business

8 Department for Culture, Media & Sport Bakewell Area  Major part of the deployment between January and September 2015  2,248 lines ordered of which 329 are business

9 Department for Culture, Media & Sport Matlock Area Currently we have 2,196 premises in Matlock area fibre enabled with the ability to access superfast broadband 161 business lines have been ordered in Matlock area

11 Department for Culture, Media & Sport Next steps 1.Complete the evaluation of Superfast Extension Programme Phase 2 and announce end of May 2015 2.Roll out a new programme of community and business engagement, raising awareness and stimulating demand for broadband services, demystifying the jargon and providing the information required for residents and businesses to get online 3.Update www.digitalderbyshire.org.uk with more up-to-date, easier to access informationwww.digitalderbyshire.org.uk 4.Build upon the 3D Business Support programme delivered by East Midlands Chamber and work with business groups to identify priority areas for future rollout 5.Investigate solutions for reaching the last 5% including working with key partners and business groups
