Cellular Respiration II Aerobic Respiration pp. 137-142

Aerobic Respiration  First step: Glycolysis again!

Second Step: Krebs Cycle  O 2 is present in aerobic respiration  Occurs in the mitochondrial matrix (inner folds of the mitochondrion)

Second Step: Krebs Cycle In the matrix: Pyruvic Acid  Acetyl CoA Acetyl CoA enters the Kreb’s Cycle

Second Step: Krebs Cycle Products: 2 ATP, NADH, and 2 CO 2

Third Step: ETC and Chemiosmosis 2 e - enter the electron transport chain ( ETC )

Third Step: ETC and Chemiosmosis H + is pumped from the matrix to in between the membranes (creates a CONC gradient)

Third Step: ETC and Chemiosmosis CONC gradient drives ATP synthase to make ATP

Third Step: ETC and Chemiosmosis H 2 O and 36 molecules of ATP made!

Vocabulary:  Aerobic  Glycolysis  Kreb’s Cycle  ETC & Chemiosmosis
