2  What is a students portfolio?  How do you make the portfolio?  What goes in the portfolio?  What is the portfolio used for?

3 A portfolio is a keepsake collection of the students work.

4 Portfolios are individual!

5 Work samples include… Art work Journals Pictures with dictation Writing Samples Photos

6 of things children have made or activities they are involved in with a written description to accompany it.

7 Checklists of Things the student has Accomplished over time.

8 The date of the activity A description of the activity The purpose of the activity Picture of the hands on process

9 Did the child…  Achieve the objectives  Still working towards the goal  Has mastered the skills.

10  Choose the type of portfolio  Collect work samples  Collect pictures  Collect Anecdotal Notes  Assemble Portfolio

11  Portfolio  Plastic sleeves  Collection of Children’s Work  Markers or Crayons  Glue  3 Whole Punch  Dividers

12  Select Portfolio Type  Include students name and date of birth  Insert work samples into plastic sleeves (the sleeves protect the work)  Student and Teacher Assemble Portfolio together
